HBCI/FinTS

HBCI stands for "HomeBanking Computer Interface" and was the standard for processing transactions via the Internet until 2004. The successor standard is FinTS, "Financial Transaction Service". While the standard has been renamed, the old name HBCI is still used colloquially. Please ask your bank whether HBCI or FinTS access is offered.

There are several authentication procedures. In addition to the very popular HBCI+ with PIN and TAN, SEPA-Transfer alsosupports  chip cards. Select the appropriate follow-up chapter for instructions on how to set this up.

Notes on the user ID

Please ask your bank for your online banking user ID. The user ID for HBCI/FinTS is often the same as the one you use for online banking in your web browser. Some banks use the account number as the user ID.

Notes on synchronizing the account

All  accounts set up in SEPA-Transfer with HBCI/FinTS must  be synchronized before using the functions . This means that your bank account data and user data are transferred from the bank to your computer so  that SEPA-Transfer can make the appropriate settings for the transfer. It is important for use that the synchronization is completed successfully.

You will be asked to enter your PIN during the synchronization process. If you have not yet synchronized your account and would like to transfer transactions to the bank or check your account balance or the latest transactions, you will be asked to synchronize the account.

Set up the HBCI procedure

To be able to use home banking, you must first set up your account for this. Depending on which procedure you have chosen, you must set up either the PIN/TAN procedure or the chip card procedure.
