Migration > Database Migration

ServerSentinel allows you to migrate from one database to another. There are two different variants to do this.

Variant 1: Without data

This variant is easier and faster than the second one, but the collected data will be not migrated. Only the configured sensors and actions are migrated.

1.Export your current configuration.

2.Change the used database in the settings.

a.Depending on the database you might need to create a new database.

b.Restart ServerSentinel.

3.Import your previous exported configuration.

Variant 2: With data

This variant will migrate all configured sensors and actions together with all collected data. The migration can require a longer period of time depending on the amount of the collected data. This can be several hours.

1.Use the database migration assistant in the application menu.

2.Configure the source database. By default it should be correctly pre-configured.

3.Configure the target database on the next page.

a.Depending on the database you might need to create a new database.

4.Start the migration.

5.Restart ServerSentinel after the migration has finished.

In both variants the old database will remain so you can return or repeat the process if something does not go smoothly.
