SIP

 

When you have access to a SIP account, you can use SmartCallMonitor as a softphone for receiving and processing calls. SmartCallMonitor then acts like a separate phone.

To configure SmartCallMonitor as a softphone, please follow these steps:

 

1. Start SmartCallMonitor and go to "Tools->Settings". In the opening settings dialog, navigate to "Telephony->SIP".

2. Check the "Activate SIP" setting at the top.

3. In the section "Add SIP account": Add your SIP account(s) with the information given to you by your SIP provider. Use the "Add SIP account" button to complete a SIP account creation.

4. If necessary, configure the audio devices that you would like to use for conducting calls in the section "SIP Audio Settings".

5. When you confirm the settings dialog, SmartCallMonitor will try to establish a connection with the given SIP account(s). If the SIP registration succeeded, the SIP account(s) will be listed in the main window in the "Switchboard" view. You can then use the SIP account(s) to receive and make calls.

 

Troubleshooting

Using SIP with a Fritz!Box

Please make sure the Fritz!Box settings are properly configured.

Problem: I have configured a softphone in the Fritz!Box and added it to SmartCallMonitor, but there is no line shown in the "Switchboard" view.

i.If the Fritz!Box is accessed by SmartCallMonitor through a different network (f.ex if the connection is routed through a firewall), the softphone must be configured accordingly. Please check in the Fritz!Box settings, whether in "Telephony->Telephony Devices->[Your Softphone Name]->Login Data" the option "Allow login from the internet" is checked.

ii.In some cases the Fritz!Box needs a restart for the softphone to be accessible. Please try to restart the Fritz!Box and as soon as it is ready, restart your computer.
