Scan Later

Schedules a single scan for the selected directories for a later point in time.

Abort Scan

Aborts a running scan of the selected directories.

Cancel Next Scan

Cancels the next scheduled scan for the selected directories.

Add Scan

Opens a new dialog, which allows to select and add a new scan target (See "Add Scan" button).

Add to Container /
Move to Container

Allows you to add the selected scans to an existing or new container in which you can group multiple scans (See "Containers").

Select this option to delete the selected containers.

Note: Only the container itself will be deleted. All included scans will persist. This entry is only shown if a container is selected.

Choose a new name for the selected container.

Please note: This entry is only shown if a container is selected.

See below: submenu Expert Settings

Check for Scan Errors

Checks if there were any errors for included directory branches in the last scan of the selected scan targets.
All errors are listed in a shown dialog including the directory path and error message.

Check Data Consistency

Updates the cached values in the database table structure. Use this in case a scan was aborted and some of the merged statistics (e.g. "Extensions", "Users" or "Ages of Files") are showing strange values.

Note: This option is disabled if there is a scan for this root directory currently in progress.

Delete from Database

Removes all scan details of the selected scans from the database.

Please note: No directory will be removed from the hard disk in this way, but all information about the scanned directory, stored in the database, will be lost.

Properties

Opens the Windows Explorer properties dialog for the selected directories.

Open Windows Eventlog

Shows the logs of the selected scan target included in the systems local Windows event log.

Submenu Export:

Copy to Clipboard

Copies the selected entries of the list to the clipboard.

Export to SQL Server

Exports the selected root directories to another, empty SQL server database. Use this option if you want to move your database from one location to another or from one database system to another new system.

Please note: This option is not available for containers and for roots which are located on another database. It should only be used to export scan data into a clean database, where no other SpaceObServer scan data is already located. Otherwise, the export might fail.

Export Roots to SQL script

Exports your database ROOTS table, with all the scan settings, to a SQL script. You can use this option if you want to start again with a clean database. Then you can import the root directories from the exported SQL script.

Submenu Expert Settings:

Set Observing Server

The "Observing Server" indicates which instance of the SpaceObServer scan service should execute the scan. The observing server is set by default to the name of the server that initially added the scan. If this field is blank, any available instance of the SpaceObServer scan service is allowed to execute the scan. You can also enter more than one server name. The names must be separated with a semicolon (;).

Set Database for this Scan

Use this option to store the file system sizes of the selected directories in a different database on the connected SQL server. This way the collected information of different directory branches can be easily separated and the access permissions to these data are configurable through the database access rights.

Change Scan Location

Use this option to change the path of the selected scan. This is necessary, if the scan target has changed (change of the drive letter, root folder name or UNC path).

Change User Credentials

Shortcut to the User Credentials configuration edit field.

Add Post Scan Action

Opens the Post Scan Actions dialog to add a new post scan action for the selected scan target.

Abort all scan process

Aborts all ongoing scan progress of running scans of the selected scan targets.
