Configuration for Terminal Server

SmartCallMonitor can be used on a terminal server, but the following aspects must be considered.

1.SmartCallMonitor settings are separated into user and service settings.

User settings are saved individually for every Windows user, in his roaming profile in %AppData%\Jam Software\SmartCallMonitor". Every user on a system can adapt these settings for himself.

Service settings are saved once per system in "%ProgramData%\Jam Software\SmartCallMonitor". Each change in these settings is system-wide, so these settings take effect for all users of the system.

Unfortunately, in the SmartCallMonitor settings dialog one can not recognize whether a setting belongs to user or service settings. This will be improved in a future SmartCallMonitor version. Which settings are user settings, and which settings are service settings, you can see in the settings help topics, e.g. in Settings->General.

Recommendation: In most cases it is desirable that service settings can only be changed by administrators of a system. To enable this restriction you can enable the option "Allow only admins to change service settings" in Service->Security. Normal users will be able to see but not to change the service settings.

2.The capabilities for a TAPI line can be set for each user.

In most cases it is desirable that a user can not see and control all of the available phone lines. For that the line capabilities must be set for the user.

The capabilities for a phone line can be set in the settings dialog in Service->Security.

oThe user name is a combination of the domain and the Windows user name and must have the format "Domain\Username". If no domain is configured on the system, the computer name of the system must be used.

oEach user has certain capabilities for every line. "Monitoring" allows the user to see and protocol calls and caller information for every call on the phone line. But to be able to have full control over the phone line, he needs the "Full Access" right. With the "Line State" capability, a user will only see the current line state, but no caller information.

oImportant hint: For the line capabilities and user rights to take effect on the local system, the option "Use authorization settings also for local users" in Service->Security must be set!
