There are 2 distinct areas in the main window of SmartCallMonitor:
The menu bar, also called the main menu and the view, which can show the call history, the contacts, the switchboard or the statistics.
To change between the views, the navigation elements in the lower left corner of the main window have to be used.
On the left side of the main window, you can show or hide the telephone view by clicking the arrow.
The main window can be opened, minimized to the task bar or iconified in the system tray. After the first installation, the main window is opened on program start by default so you can make or change settings. This default behavior can be changed in the Settings dialog to suit your needs.
The main window will be minimized -like every normal window- by clicking on the Minimize button on the upper right of the main window. The window remains in the Task bar until you reactivate it by clicking on it's task bar badge.
Clicking on the X in the upper right corner will -in contrast to the usual behavior of Windows programs- not result in exiting the program. The program minimizes to an icon in the system tray instead and will run as a background process. The round Status Icon with the colored telephone receiver in the system tray gives you a clue about the program status. This way, the space in the task bar will not be occupied by SmartCallMonitor and will remain free for other applications. A quick double-click on the Status Icon will bring the main window of SmartCallMonitor back into the foreground again.
If you really want to exit the program (without having a background process running), use the command Exit from the File menu for the context menu of the tray icon, and SmartCallMonitor will shut down completely.
